About Saydel Little Eagles Wrestling Club

Saydel Little Eagles Wrestling Club (LEW) is a volunteer-run youth wrestling organization dedicated to introducing young athletes to the sport of wrestling while fostering personal growth, discipline, and teamwork. LEW operates under the Saydel Athletic Booster Club's 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, allowing donations and sponsorships to directly support our athletes and program.

Our mission is to encourage participation in the sport of wrestling by helping athletes develop proper technique, strong work ethic, confidence, and character—both on and off the mat. We strive to create a positive, inclusive environment where every wrestler has the opportunity to learn, improve, and reach their fullest potential.

The Saydel Little Eagles Wrestling Program proudly serves more than 75 youth wrestlers each season. Practices are held at Saydel High School and are open to boys and girls in Kindergarten through 8th grade during the regular wrestling season. During the FRECO (summer freestyle and Greco-Roman) season, our program expands to serve athletes in 3rd through 12th grade, providing additional opportunities for skill development and competition throughout the summer.

Over the next three to five years, the Saydel Little Eagles Wrestling Club is committed to building a stronger, more successful program by increasing both participation and athlete retention. Our goal is to grow our program by improving our retention rate by 5% while continuing to welcome more young wrestlers into the sport each season. On the mat, we strive to consistently develop athletes capable of competing at the highest levels, with goals of qualifying 10 wrestlers for the AAU State Tournament, sending 10 girls to the Iowa Girls State Wrestling Tournament, and sending 18 wrestlers for the AAU Pee Wee State Tournament each year. We also recognize that a successful youth program is built on strong community support, and we are committed to recruiting and developing more volunteers to help provide a positive experience for every athlete and family involved in Little Eagles Wrestling.
